Regulators, Bcds, Air Fills, Nitrox Fills, Air And Quality Tests

Taking care of your SCUBA diving equipment is especially important because it is life support equipment.
Your regulator is the heart of the system and having your units serviced once every 12 months or 40 dives whichever comes first, means you can always count on the regulator being ready to go and working properly.

OzAquatec Scuba prides itself on providing quality servicing and does not take any short cuts. All Scuba servicing is done one way only and that is the CORRECT WAY.
Your unit is completely overhauled by a qualified TQS recognised technician to manufacturer’s specifications and only genuine parts are used. Have your regulators serviced regularly.
You cannot assume that your regulator is in good working order just because it has received little use since the last time it was serviced. Prolonged or improper storage can result in internal corrosion and/or the deterioration of O-ring seals. Read our blog on how to wash, store and keep your SCUBA diving regs in good health.

It is also good to plan ahead. Most people only think about servicing their equipment a few days before going away diving and are often disappointed that it cannot be serviced in time. Regulator servicing lead times are usually 10-14 days so keep this in mind as you make your plans. It is also a good time to remember to have your SCUBA cylinder/tank and valve tested at the same time.

Buoyancy Compensator Device

After your regulators, BCD’s are one of the costliest items of required SCUBA gear. Don’t overlook getting your BCD serviced when you have your regs done. The same rules apply with your BCD as above with your regs. You cannot assume that it is unnecessary to be serviced because it’s had little use. Read our blog on how to clean, store and keep your BCD in good condition.

Before servicing commences, our OzAquatec technician will check all the BCD details including serial numbers, make, model as well as any preferences and/or concerns you may have.
Bench tests are conducted to evaluate the condition of entire unit including inflation, deflation and OPVs (Over Pressure Valve) operations. All findings are logged on an initial inspection report. Disassembly, cleaning, and inspection of all components for wear is then completed. Technicians then replace all manufacturers recommend parts for the annual service. It is then reassembled, and any necessary adjustments made in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications.

A final bench test is then completed– inflating, deflating, and checking of OPVs to manufacturer’s specifications. A secondary check is done by another Technician who does a bench test as well as the water test. The unit is completely submerged under water to test for any fine leaks over the entire unit. The BCD is then dried and left inflated overnight for a leak test. Once your BCD service is completed it will be ready for the next 12 months.

Ozaquatec Scuba Centre has the largest storage of air available in Brisbane Diving community, totalling over 250,000 litres. Our air is nitrox quality which runs through a five-way filtration system to ensure we provide you with the best quality air you can breathe.

The purity of our air is tested every 3 months to Australian Standards. Feel free to look over our most recent Air Quality Test for your peace of mind. As a Scuba diver it is your right to demand quality air. The last thing you want to be concerned about when diving is the quality of the air you are breathing.

Australian Standards – AS3848/2- Filling of portable cylinders for SCUBA and SCBA requires 3 monthly testing of breathing air quality. It is recommended that this test interval be applied as a minimum to all breathing air systems. It measures oxygen, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, water vapour and oil mist levels to check they are within the recognised safe range.

At OzAquatec Scuba Centre our fill station meets all Australian Standards and the purity of our air is checked every 3 months.

We have a state-of-the-art system that runs through a five-way filtration system. Our Air Quality Test Reports are proudly displayed on the wall at our front counter. Please view our current Air Quality Test.

These test results are quantified by both the Senior and Secondary Technicians to ensure the integrity of results. Air Quality Tests are carried out to Australian Standard AS2299.1. Testing is done with a combination of both test tubes and gas analysers.
